We know that giving Guests a gift is an important part of the convention experience for many of you, and so we've put together this handy guide to gifting at The New Uni-Con to make sure your gifting experience goes as smoothly as possible.
When gifting, it is important to remember that our Guests are likely to receive a lot of gifts across the convention. Three of them are travelling internationally to home / work directly after the convention, so will have limited space to take back gifts, especially larger items. Letters, cards and your own (non-explicit) artwork are thoughtful and space conscious gifts. If you are making something for the Guests, especially something that takes considerable time and effort, think smaller! Guests are often not able to take every single gift they receive home with them, so if when picking or making your gift item you would be very upset if they had to leave it behind, you may want to reconsider.
During The New Uni-Con gifting is only permitted during the autograph sessions. We don't allow gifting in the Photo Studio as it is important that the Photo Ops run on schedule. We don't permit gifting during Meet & Greets or Coffee Breaks, as it is unfair to everyone else who has paid to take part in these experiences to take away from the time everyone shares with the Guest.
For the comfort and safety of the Guests, all gifts must be checked and approved by Siren Events Staff. As such, unless an item is in its original and un-opened packaging, no gifts will be permitted if they are wrapped or packaged in a sealed gift box. If you are uncertain about any gift, you can always reach out to us in advance.
We have a strict policy against any of the following:
Perishable food or drink items;
Home-made food and drink items;
Non-perishable food and drink items not in their original sealed manufacturers packaging;
Any sexually explicit items or items containing nudity;
Cheese;
As David Fane will be returning to Aotearoa New Zealand, a country with incredibly strict customs rules, the following items are also prohibited for his gifts as per AoNZ guidelines:
